Snow

This series is inspired by the snowy winter of Chicago. I was drawn upon the close-up texture of icy snow. To present the exquisite, transparent and salt melted nature of snow, I had worked primarily with salt, water, and ink. In experimenting with these materials, I found that it allowed me to work intuitively based on my observation and interpretation. In some paintings, the abstract images serve as the background texture, and then Chinese fine-style painting technique is applied for the final touch. This spontaneous (uncontrolled) and fine-style (controlled) painting processes are used alternatively in order to create detailed and imaginative world within and beyond the existing imagery.
